Introducing: Rafael Davila

Rafael Davila, Business Unit Manager of Produce for Eurofins Microbiology.
Rafael’s role encompasses the oversight of four leafy-green testing and research focused microbiology laboratories along the central coast of California and into Yuma, Arizona. His responsibilities include the comprehensive management of these operations, while having a vision for the overall Eurofins produce strategy within the region, across the United States, and Mexico.
Rafael provides a wealth of knowledge and experience in the areas of agriculture, food safety, and quality assurance, specific to the leafy green industry. His tenure within the industry began with hands-on work on farms pulling weeds, moving irrigation pipes and hand-harvesting lettuce. With hard work and a mindset on food safety, Rafael quickly advanced to roles with responsibilities of field sampling and conducting pre-harvest food safety risk assessments.
As his career path materialized, Rafael took on greater and greater challenges, ever focused on the ultimate goal of leafy green food safety and quality. In his role as Director of Food Safety at Western Harvesting, he was instrumental in developing food safety protocols for the company’s growing and harvesting operations. Later within the role of Western Regional Food Safety Manager at Ready Pac Foods/Bonduelle Fresh Americas, Rafael amplified the advancement of good agricultural practices and food safety standards on farms across multiple states.
Before joining Eurofins, Rafael founded and operated Priority Sampling, LLC. Over seven years, his innovative approaches and strategic leadership drove the company in their pursuit of excellence in product and environmental sampling services for the leafy greens industry. One highly notable advancement included the development of a food safety sampling robot to alleviate the labor-intensive process of sample collection.
