Chad Smith currently serves as the Director of Quality Assurance & Safety for Eurofins’s North America Food & Feed division. Since joining Eurofins in October 2014, Chad has played an important role in ensuring the highest standards of quality and safety across a wide range of food and feed testing operations. His leadership and dedication have significantly contributed to the advancement in meat testing at Eurofins.
Before joining Eurofins, Chad was the Director of Operations, Quality Systems & Training at IEH Laboratories and Consulting Group in Grand Island, NE. During his time at IEH, Chad developed and implemented quality policies for over 60 laboratories, led internal audits to maintain compliance with ISO17025 standards, and designed extensive training programs for laboratory managers. His work in standardizing training for 300 employees through online courses showcased his deep understanding of adult learning principles and his commitment to quality education in the field.
Chad’s journey in food safety began at ConAgra Beef, where he worked as the Superintendent of Food Safety. At ConAgra, he played a pivotal role in reducing E. coli O157:H7 occurrences by 83% at a major beef processing facility, resulting in substantial cost savings. He also collaborated with USDA FSIS as a co-chair of the facility’s HACCP team, ensuring rigorous food safety standards were met.
His early career as a Lab Technician at Chief Ethanol Fuels involved conducting biological and chemical analyses to support fermentation processes, laying the groundwork for his future in quality assurance and laboratory management.
Chad holds an MA in Management & Leadership from Doane University and a BS in Biology from the University of Nebraska at Kearney. He has also earned certifications as a Certified Pharmaceutical GMP Professional and a Certified Manager of Quality / Operational Excellence from ASQ.
