Chemical tests primarily follow SW-846 protocols, and include organic and inorganic analyses such as volatiles, semivolatiles, metals, pesticides, PCBs and anions. Chemical analyses conducted during characterization events are typically done to reveal contamination in soil, whereas physical testing parameters provide insight into the composition and nature of the soil. Physical testing can include bulk density, grain size, percent moisture and particle size.
