Before becoming the Director of Technical Services for Eurofins Built Environment Testing's combined Marlton, NJ and Mt. Laurel, NJ laboratories, Frank spent over 35 years as the Laboratory Director and part owner for International Asbestos Testing Laboratories (iATL) overseeing dozens of scientists and support team at the commercial environmental and materials testing laboratory in New Jersey. He has helped conduct workshops on ISO17025 and NELAC/TNI QA Policy compliance.  

Frank serves as the Chair of American Society of Testing Materials International (ASTM) D2207, Asbestos Sampling and Analysis since 2013, and is a Fellow of the Society and Recipient of the George Luciw Award. He is the current Chair of both ASTM International's series of gatherings on asbestos issues with the Michael Beard Conference and Harry Rook Conferences. Frank serves on the International Standards Organization (ISO) technical committee TC-146 on asbestos.  

Serving over 24 years to elected and appointed positions of leadership with the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA) Analytical Accreditation Board (AAB), and other AIHA committees including the Task Group on US EPA and other interagency groups focused on Lead Hazard and American Technology Transfer Act Expert panel. He was an invited speaker on the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and automated image analysis in the laboratory as well as Real Time Monitoring device studies for regulators. He is a two-time recipient of the AIHA Harriet Hurley Award for Laboratory Leadership Excellence 2012 and 2023.   

Frank was the Technical Editor and Reviewer for ASTM International’s Asbestos Control Manual 3rd Edition and several other ASTM Technical Publications on asbestos and detection limits. He is a peer reviewer for professional science/technical journals. Mr. Ehrenfeld has been a keynote speaker, moderator, and presenter at dozens of national and international conferences, symposia and workshops. Frank was selected to serve on the USEPA World Trade Center Asbestos Review Panel and has presented and published on the implications of that tragedy. Frank is an editor and published author for consensus standard method development on asbestos laboratory issues. He was an Invited Speaker for USFDA Asbestos/Talc forums and was likewise invited to run workshops for public and private groups in Australia and New Zealand on asbestos issues.  

Academically, Frank's background includes B.S. Chemistry/Biology, and Graduate studies in both Materials Science and Engineering as well as Industrial Hygiene and Toxicology.
