The Safe Feed/Safe Food (SF/SF) Certification Program is a voluntary, independently certified program that aims to ensure the safety and quality of animal feed and food products. The American Feed Industry Association (AFIA) created the program in 2004 for companies in the animal feed industries in the United States and Canada. The Safe Quality Food Institute administers the program.

With new regulations coming into law, AFIA has redesigned the SF/SF program to include a complete review of feed safety in line with the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA).

This program is consistent with the requirements by the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA). FSC36 is our simple code that helps facilities prepare for compliance with the Food Safety Modernization Act’s animal food rule and exceed regulatory requirements. It is a good starting point for companies looking to sharpen their employees’ understanding of the regulations with a program trusted by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). You can minimize food safety risks and prepare for your next facility inspection, all while proving to your customers your commitment to animal food safety.	FSC32 is the program used for pet food and pet food ingredients. This program is benchmarked with the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI), meaning it meets the internationally accepted standards for food safety within the food retail industry.	This FSC34 program is specifically designed for animal feed manufacturers. This program is benchmarked against the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI), guaranteeing it meets internationally recognized standards.
